Say Goodbye to Circus Hour
Remember when I announced that all my newest celebrity gossip-inspired illustrations would appear on a new blog called Circus Hour? Well, scratch that. Effective today, Im coming home to Gallery of the Absurd and all my new work will be posted here.
I always enjoy indulging myself in various new experiences, but I found that I wasn't enjoying my other blog as much as I had anticipated. When I create art, I have to do so from my heart and can't be bothered with worrying about traffic statistics, comments, advertisers, whether my posts are linked on other sites, and all the other trappings of blogging as a business. Gallery of the Absurd will still feature art inspired by the craziness of Tom Cruise and other oddities of pop culture, but expect it to become a little more eclectic as I post other types of work here too.
While Candy Kirby and I have decided to part ways as blogging partners, we still enjoy collaborating and will continue to work on projects together. Find her new blog at here. Meanwhile, I'm in process of updating Gallery of the Absurd with all the art I created for Circus Hour and am also working on some upcoming posts. Stay tuned. Dear Sir,
I have nothing bad to say about Circus Hour, but for some reason it just didn't catch my interest as your blog and illustrations managed to do from day one.
Welcome home; I have missed you so very, very much!

Hi 14,
Sorry circus hour didn't meet your expectation. However, I am excited to see more of your work here!
Like Fredrik said, Welcome Home!

Thank you for coming back here, to your own playground! Circus Hour was much too commercial and artificial and ... almost tainted the genuine satire that used to be imprinted on your works. Good luck, you are truly talented and it's always a pleasure to see your works!

Can you see my grin from there, 14? If I'd known the date you came home, I would have totally gone wild with the crepe paper, balloons and strippers!
Also, I love your spider in this painting! That and the peekaboo nipplage!
I will do my part to help drive traffic here as best I can.

Nothing could be finer for us who loved YOU to begin with....welcome home, and knowing many of your female paintings have some basis in you...Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.......

14! You can't get rid of me that easily! I don't mind reading two blogs!
Love you lots, and lots,

It's always good to explore new options, but like everyone else, I'm glad you're back.

I love you anywhere you go!

14, I'm so glad to hear that you are coming back here. I was trying to keep up with your work at Circus Hour, but there was just too much info coming at me at once, and I ended up sadly removing Circus Hour from my feed list. I'm totally looking forward to seeing your stuff back here on the GOTA! All the best to you and welcome back!

I'm happy about this! I agree with past comments, it just didn't catch my interest as much. Plus, "Gallery of the Absurd" is such a slinkster cool name. :P
Posted by: Lia | April 21, 2008 at 11:38 AM
Oooh, I like that picture. It's very "Nightmare Before Christmas." Infact, kinda reminds me of Sally as a porn star haha. ;)
I think Circus Hour lost its novelty, I'm glad you two are separate entities.

Ditto to what the others said - I missed seeing you here. Welcome home, 14.

OK, but who gets custody of Bunky?
Posted by: Vern | April 21, 2008 at 12:05 PM
Yeah, what about Bunky - surely he will turn to a life of booze and cigarettes.
Oh, yeah. Already there.
BTW: That's some tuffet!

Yay. :)

Circus Hour was good .... but GOTA is way better. It's hard to top perfection. So glad you are back.

Well I'm one of those people who are quite happy to follow you wherever. I enjoyed Circus Hour - it was a litte full-on I guess - but love the simplicity and elegance and, of course, the brilliance of this here blog. Looking forward to more :)

Dear 14,
I tried to find you at circus hour but as in any marriage the two become one and there was little room for the individual. A tad watered down for your delicious sense of irony. Welcome home. Oddly enough I didn't delete you from my "favorites", as I hoped for a triumphant return of gallery.
fondly,

I'm so glad you're back, and you should know I never visited CH in protest.
WELCOME BACK!!!

How short-lived and disappointing! However, good to hear that you'll both be keeping up the blogging. Looking forward to seeing much more artwork of yours than what we were seeing on Circus Hour!

Welcome home! It's great to have you back!
Posted by: MandyPandy | April 21, 2008 at 03:33 PM
You and Candy are better as separate sites. I think you're both fabulous but your personalities were watered down on Circus Hour. I'd rather visit two great sites than one watered down one.

I like my Gallery of the Absurd full strength and undiluted! I'm very pleased you're back 'home.'

And here we are, home again.
It was fun while it lasted, but this somehow feels right. It's always worth trying things out, and if it ends up not being the right direction, no big deal.

I didn't enjoy Circus Hour either. Missed you magnificently! Welcome Back!

Darling, 14 -- Welcome home. Your fans and friends and odds and ends have missed you terribly.
Now, I am going in the bathroom to take a look at my tail before J. Edgar Hoover's goons come to take it away.

Isn't Bunky in rehab now? At least, that's what Tommy Lee told me while I was _______ his ________!
Oh man, whatever will be will, chick!

Glad to see you'll be back with GOTA full time 14!
Posted by: Thorne Smith | April 21, 2008 at 06:43 PM
I am glad to see you back on your own, Circus Hour was cool but not as cool as GOTA on its own. =)
Posted by: Jody | April 21, 2008 at 07:51 PM
I am so glad you are back to your wicked ways 14! It just wasn't the same with Circus Hour! It just wasn't the same! I have missed GOTA so motherfucking much!!!!
I love this pic you posted. Is there a print to go with it?
Love you darlin'!!!

Welcome home 14, it is so inspiring to see another artists' point of view in the celeb blog world. And you are one of the very best.
Kick on comrade!

I like celebrity gossip as much as the next vacuous woman and CandyKirby is now on my favourites list however I did feel Circus Hour depreciated your art a little because the gossip was the always the primary focus and your artwork secondary. Your artwork deserves its own platform so welcome back.

I just found out when I checked out Circus Hour, and believe me, I will miss your collaborative efforts. :)
Posted by: Eize | April 21, 2008 at 09:26 PM
I liked Circus Hour but yeah you two are better doing your own thing.
Posted by: sugarbear | April 21, 2008 at 09:57 PM
Can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve. Love your sense of humor, satire, and your vision.
Posted by: CPTWilly | April 21, 2008 at 10:04 PM
I too tried to enjoy Circus Hour. Sadly I concluded that I was unable to roll in that fashion. Celebrity watching is depressing without irony and frivolity. Lots of the sites to which CH links seem quite serious underneath their catty humor.
As always I endeavor to be forthright and I must therefore admit to attaining some wood (sorry) over a recent photograph of Ms. Coco. Needless to say I hate myself for it.

Ah ... it seemed like a great idea, 14. Glad you two gave it a try. I do enjoy your collaborations. But you don't need any help from anybody! Welcome, home, darling. As you can see, everybody is back. xox knox
wait ... where is the bloviator ... did he go to washington?

I'm sorry it didn't work out, but like most people already said, two separate sites just work better. I'm glad you're back at the GotA!
Posted by: Faylinn | April 22, 2008 at 07:35 AM
welcome home, 14!
Posted by: scungilli | April 22, 2008 at 07:44 AM
You GO. 14!
I too am an artist and we shouldn't compromise! Just turned down a HUGE account because the client wanted to call all shots. She doesn't need an artist. Bunky could do what she wants. Here's to staying true . . . to your art!
