An angry granny has condemned Sir Bob Geldof as the embodiment of Satan. The caustic granny claims Geldof is very cruel, greedy and has raised his children as hippies. Geldof is often referred to as a saint because of his devotion to ending poverty, but granny thinks he's Satan. I'm not sure why this obscure little story caught my eye, perhaps I just wanted a fun reason to paint Geldof as the Lord of Darkness. Medium: acrylic, gold metallic on board.

I think that granny is on to something.

Hey, got a great Hallowe'en theme going on... aren't you a bit early?
Love the Sting pic!

Yes I know...I'm chomping at the bit for Halloween to get here. I was just bored with gossip yesterday and wanted to paint some off-beat portraits while tuning out the usual Hollywood sludge. I painted these while becoming rattled after listening to Alex Jones scream about the looming world wide economic collapse that he claims is being orchestrated by the global elite. Lesson: Never paint while listening to Alex Jones.

THAT GRANNY IS DAMN RIGHT!
These horns totally fit him! However, 14, I wish you painted him when he's got a weird smile or a guru-like suit. Just check his Wikipedia page!

Reminds me a little of his cameo in Spice World, when Scary gave him those hair horns.

That's HOT!

Geldorf is a pompous asshole.
He's only held on to celebrity based on the celebrity / charity angle.
Read some old interviews and you can see how his mind works.
He's a dick.

He has a distinctive face, and you really nailed it here. I wonder if that Granny has ever seen "The Wall"? As many times as I've seen it, I still can't take the scene where Bob Geldof (as "Pink") shaves his chest. There's some definite demonism going on there.

Rupert Everett talked about Bob Geldof having a big dick. Rupert, strangely enough, didn't see it because as a gay man he preferred Bob's wife. I will quote what Rupert said about Bob, " you didn't have to have lunch with X to know that Bob had a big dick" ... (insert something about being able to tell by looking at Bob) .. "the skinny frame, the big nose, the jungle smell of man."
Ew!!! Ew!!! Ew!!!! Ew!!!! Ew!!!!!
Bob Geldof is Satan. His face scares the shit out of me. Any guy with body odor, a big nose, and a big dick just makes me want to vomit.

Noelegy says it all.
Beautiful horns and hair--you make demons sexy!

I'm Irish and I'm often a bit embarrassed for Geldof and Bono. Both men pay very little tax themselves, and protect their own money pretty fiercely:

Anyway I'm getting off topic- great picture! I reckon the granny is onto something- Strange that such a humble down to earth philantropist can spawn such a bratty, entitled, materialistic, neptotistic fame hound like Peaches.

PS: Bob can only dream of the silvery tresses you've gifted him with!

That is an odd little story...I'm sure granny would approve of your portrait, it certainly illustrates perfectly all her claims. But I'm wondering: why does he have custody of that kid, if she's his ex-wife's child? Wouldn't she go to someone in either her mom's or dad's family, like granny for instance? Ehhh...never mind.

Katie, originally both Hutchence's dad and Yates's parents wanted Geldof to care for the child, since the grandparents felt they were too old and Geldof had other children who were half-siblings. As far as I know the rest of the family still supports him.

Granny, Patricia Glassop is no-one to be pointing fingers at people for being a wretched parent.
She left her husband and took one son, Michael, to California with her, leaving the baby behind. The abandoned child subsequently became one of the most wretched junkies in the southern hemisphere.
Michael didn't turn out so well either.

As an Anglo-Nigerian, I have always felt a large amount of contempt for this wretched man - (this goes doubly so for his lick-spittle sidekick Bono).
The Nigerian side of me feels, that he is at best patronising to the people of Africa,at worst self aggrandising and egotistical.
Like Uriah Heep,he always has to be seen to be doing good, making sure that each gesture, however minute,is as highly visible as possible.Despite his canonizaion by the mainstream media, many African Campaigners are less than impressed by his beatific radiance. In their perception,he is little more than an an apologist for the agenda put forward by the World's leading financial institutions. An agenda that is the chief cause of many of the Continent's problems in the first place.
The English side has an automatic distrust of anybody with a title.
Seriously, being a KBE,(Knight of the Order of the British Empire),in this day and age.
Does he have no idea of long lasting damage the British Empire caused in Africa?
Or the detriment that having a Royal family has had on British society and culture?
The acceptance of this honorific from an anachronistic feudal institution automatically puts him in the category of,"very suspect until proven otherwise",for me.His actions do very little to remove him from this category.
For a very succinct commentary on Sir Bob go here:

It's called,"The Man Who Betrayed the Poor".Not a sentiment that many people would agree with, but very accurate nonetheless.

Hey Demon, now don't be dissin' guys with big dicks. They can't help it, poor critters! The body odor thing though, I do agree with that.

Well said, Adam. I don't trust anyone who gets fuckloads of attention from their charities. Rupert Everett said that it was Geldoff's ex, Paula Yates, who came up with the idea of Live Aid.
I wonder what the Africans and the rest of the impoverished world think of Angelina Jolie? I have ambivalent feelings about Jolie's humanitarian efforts. On some level, I think she is full of shit.

Bob Geldof and Bono really take the cake. I gave twenty pounds a month of my hard earned money to donate to Save the Children. That's money I could have used otherwise on home improvement or toys for my son. So what if they donate a little bit of their time and "Prestige" for charity. Have they really sacrificed anything in their posh lives? I hate these filthy rich do-gooders who have virtually nil effect on the larger scheme of things, but pat themselves on the back. The only luminary I respect in this realm is Mother Theresa. She had nothing and gave everything. Go away you egotistical rich hypocritical bastards. And that goes for you, foul-mouthed Geldof.
