Adorable little Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt is just over a week old and she's already at the center of gossip tabloid scandal. Seems the first public photo of Shiloh was leaked and posted to some our favorite gossip blogs. Since People magazine paid $4.1 million for exclusive rights for the photos, this did not sit well with the legal department over at Time Inc. Bloggers were demanded to remove the photos immediately or they would face the consequences. Gawker posts the legal exchanges and the scandal makes national headlines. Personally, I think posting the image to the Internet a few days before the magazine hits the stands will only serve to generate interest thus increasing sales....but what do I know? I never buy People magazine, but I'm buying 3 copies of the Shiloh Nouvel issue and that's an extra $12 for Time Inc. Medium: Graphite and ink on paper with digital color.

Aww the poor little baby. Atleast she has parents who will be able to raise her (unlike poor SPF). I suppose the photo thing is just part of being famous.
Actually what really tickles me about all this is that we saw Shiloh already and Suri is still Missing In Action.

I know no one is clamoring to photograph her baby, and so does she, but Camryn Manheim had this to say about the Brangelina fuss:
I believe in the First Amendment and freedom of expression. I know, for example, that Brad and Angelina’s baby photos have a four million dollar bounty on them right now. I feel that, like I think they are going to do, and give it to charity, that amount of money could feed a small country. I’m all for [the tabloids] paying for something good for the world. I say, take the pictures, get the money and put it to good use.
Here's a topic -- First Amendment rights. Discuss amongst yourselves.

Brilliant and spot on as usual, my fiend.
Now...WHERE IS SURI???? Oh, how soon they forget...
Posted by: Cyclops Kitten Natividad | June 07, 2006 at 06:46 PM
its absolutely disgusting that people will pay these crazy amounts for a picture of a baby. its nothing more nothing less, just a damn picture. Great painting 14!
Posted by: Jennacide | June 07, 2006 at 07:56 PM
the legal issues about this photo are more interesting than the photo itself. nice work on your part. love it.
Posted by: eery | June 07, 2006 at 08:25 PM
Yeah, I'll be buying a copy of either Hello or People because I like to support the fact that some of that money will indirectly go to a charity. Like you, I never buy celeb mags coz, why bother? I'm only follow the BAMZS, and the tabs are just boring. Read one & you've read them all - usually for free at the news stand.
Posted by: lylian | June 07, 2006 at 08:26 PM
those lips on a baby that small are slightly troubling, but i'm sure she'll grow into them. right?
Gallery of the Absurd is THE best art gallery i've seen in years. brava!
Posted by: anne | June 07, 2006 at 08:34 PM
Not a big surprise that Shiloh looks like ummmm...a baby with her mouth open.
Brad looks a little like a goofy teen.
Angelina looks like a mannequin.
Great work, always fun to view.
Posted by: Smile Pretty | June 07, 2006 at 10:15 PM
Ahh why is Angie only wearing eyeshadow on one eye?!?!
Haha, but no seriously, you hit this one dead on. Anyone who didn't see the real thing might as well see this, great job 14 :)
Posted by: Zoey | June 07, 2006 at 10:17 PM
Wow I love the headline, "Internet photo leak nearly causes apocalypse!" so true, so true. As sick as I am getting of all the Shiloh buzz, I have to admit this picture made me laugh. Good one!
Posted by: Michelle | June 07, 2006 at 11:17 PM
I think that your art is spot on, as usual, but this one has a real beauty and serenity to it. Congrats on another perfect post, 14!
Posted by: Jazzeh | June 08, 2006 at 01:52 AM
Good for Shiloh. Folks wish they had those lips.
Posted by: | June 08, 2006 at 04:27 AM
Abso-bloody-lutely brilliant work, as always.
Shiloh has the Jolie lips - lucky her.

Nice work 14! It looks very close to the original magazine! HOLA!
Posted by: Fug. | June 08, 2006 at 06:16 AM
I thought about that when I learned how much People paid for it! Craziness.
How weird is little Shiloh's first dip into her "baby scrap book" going to be when she's older?
Beautiful pic, I LOVE Brad's squinty face...
And, for the record, Baby Jolie-Pitt is ADORABLE.

I think it's extremely cynical to take pictures of a newborn and "sell them for charity." If you want to do something nice for someone, don't pimp your kid out for $4M. Even if that $4M is for a good cause.
Posted by: hollygolightly | June 08, 2006 at 08:04 AM
i wish they'd used a stunt double baby! ooh, maybe they did??
Posted by: Anna | June 08, 2006 at 08:32 AM
hey hey hey ....
i really think that Brangelina are really cool in givin the procedes 2 chartity ...and i also lyk the fact that Angelina dusnt sit on her ass and live a GREAT hollywood lyf (just lyk jennefer A)
but she actually gives BACK
but ya hey .. BABY ... VERY CUTE

Dude, you just keep getting better and better.
Posted by: surcie | June 08, 2006 at 10:45 AM
excellent as always. I hope people doesn't come after you next!
Posted by: catstarr | June 08, 2006 at 11:21 AM
You think her other two kids are going to sue the papers for giving more attention to the newbie? I could see Bucky representing them, putting car seats in the back of his Bently for the little squirts... Those kids have been around for at least 3 years now without any scandals. This one gets birthed and a week later; BAM! Who are the REAL victims here?!?
Posted by: Janina | June 08, 2006 at 12:35 PM
Cyclops Kitten Natividad,
Where's Suri? I've been asking the same question, join the club. I'm glad someone else thinks it's as weird as I do that we haven't seen her yet.
Did you hear about Tom and Kate going into the bathroom together? He won't give her any privacy at all! There is something very wrong there....
Posted by: Long Island Irish | June 08, 2006 at 01:30 PM
Love the big bottom lip on the baby :)
Pictures were going to be taken of the baby regardless of what they did. They might as well give lots of money to charity.
I say good for them and cute baby.
Posted by: Genevieve | June 08, 2006 at 02:27 PM
Accually buying the magazines won't contribute ANYTHING to charity because Time, Inc. isn't donating any of the sales money to charity. The best thing to do is to view the pics online for free! That way the mags will get the point that paying such a horrendous amount of $$$ for baby pics is unconscionable(sp)..and yet the $10mil will still go to charity...Think of it as a F'ck YOU to the tabloids!
Posted by: Elena C | June 08, 2006 at 03:10 PM
Look at THAT picture and tell me that 14 wasn't right with the ears of Shiloh in the previous painting with Maria and Joseph.

That kid looks exactly as 14 predicted it :)

Well you have no right posting someone elses work.Copyright is serious stuff. And it's also how people make their living. Why should bloggers get the fame and glory for their blogs when they didn't pay anyone for a license and People paid 4 million.
people that steal are thieves and photos and stories are sellable content and how people in that industry make their living.
Grow up,get real!
Posted by: Bobthe2nd | June 08, 2006 at 04:05 PM
Bobthe2nd,
Unless you're a copyright lawyer with some law to back up your opinion (which is all it is), why should 14 give a shit what you think?
Satire and commentary are protected under the law for writers and all artists. A photo is one thing, but this is a painting. An artist's take on the subject of the scandal behind the picture (at least that's my uninformed view). I'm studying law libraries, not that this makes me a law expert, but I always love seeing so called experts make stupid comments about that which they have no idea. :)
Cute painting, 14. I don't see why people think giving money to people or hello means it's going to charity. The photos were sold and that money is going to charity. People and Hello care more about lining their pockets at the moment.
Posted by: Morrigan | June 08, 2006 at 07:58 PM
Right on, Morrigan!
Shiloh looks like a little Jolie to me, and yes 14, you hit the ears dead on!
Posted by: Devin | June 09, 2006 at 12:47 PM
It gets worse. The Nationnal Enquirer is reporting that the baby isn't Brad's.
Posted by: Rama | June 09, 2006 at 04:15 PM
Well, at least we know Shiloh exists. Unfortunately, I can't say the same thing for Suri.......
Posted by: Rose | June 09, 2006 at 04:42 PM
I'm no fan of breeding or new babies or all the self-indulgent nonsense that goes with it, but that is one really, really sweet picture.
Posted by: Pussy Royale | June 09, 2006 at 06:17 PM
Sorry Bob, Morrigan is absolutely right! I work hands on with trademark and copyright issues, satire is protected (an unfortunate thing for celebrities and political figures!) 14 is no thief as this is obviously a sketch and she is obviously not making a monetary profit from it. You might want to check out www.uspto.gov re copyrights or contact the Library of Congress to better inform yourself before you dictate to someone knowledgeable that they need to "grow up and get real", that was really uncalled for.
Posted by: Carole | June 10, 2006 at 06:01 AM
Bobthe2nd - please just shut up. And locate the space bar while you're at it.
Anyway, 14, this is excellent! I saw the real pics on another blog, and seriously, let's all hope this little girl can grow into those lips. Eeek.
She IS adorable, though. Loves it.

"those lips on a baby that small are slightly troubling, but i'm sure she'll grow into them. right?" -- Anne
I've seen pics of young Angelina and she's had the trout pout since birth. Her dad, Jon Voight, has full, sensuous lips and so does Shiloh's pop, Brad. Tis only natural that the baby inherit such a trademark.
Nice work, 14. Reminds me of the first Public Image album with each band member under a diffent magazine typography.
Posted by: mabster60 | June 10, 2006 at 06:08 PM
WILD. Almost looks like Mick Jagger's the daddy. Oh, and Brad makes the perfect nanny.

According to Merriam- Webster online:
Main Entry: eu·gen·ics
Pronunciation: yu-'je-niks
Function: noun plural but singular or plural in construction
: a science that deals with the improvement (as by control of human mating) of hereditary qualities of a race or breed
Our obsession. So, Angelina has gone from blood and knives to Cambodia and Africa. She carved Johnny Lee Miller's name in her chest with a knife and let the blood seep through the white shirt for their wedding. Angelina and Billy Bob engaged in vampiric activities - they cut each other ( during fucking of course) and wore a vial of blood around their necks. Let's not forget the padded sex room and the "his and hers" grave sites, not to mention kissing a la french with her brother at the academy awards. And now Cambodia and Africa and what not and a child of each race -this human crayola box she's creating (how white!!!) Brad (whose hairstyle changes with each girlfriend - remember Juliet Lewis???) has jumped on this bandwagon. I wonder what Angelina's next trend will be and if Brad will keep up with it? I really do feel sorry for Shiloh when she gets her first period - I feel for you Shiloh - really!!!!. And Shiloh you know, you look like you are going to be Daddy's girl and I would work this for all it's worth if I were you because your mother is an egomaniac from HELL and I think she knew that fucking your Dad and having his kid would be an investment in Hollywood and I don't think Mommy will ever want to share the spotlight with you Shiloh because she has really perfected the art of looking like she's about to come with each click of the camera and your Dad is a sap so really Shiloh don't tell Mommy when you start to bleed because it will be in all the tabloids as well as your -nevermind. I honest to God don't know what is more aggravating - Angelina or the world pounding its genitalia over this.
So Much Love,
Demon Kitty

Why are you buying THREE copies of People this week??? Hope it's so you can make some more awesome art, or that you just love babies......
Posted by: NuclearSister | June 11, 2006 at 04:46 AM
There will be no relief for any of us from the sight of this child for the next 5 years. Actually, the next 18 years. The first day at college will get about $4 million adjusted up, to 2024 rates.
Posted by: Neighbor | June 11, 2006 at 12:35 PM
To The Idle Receptionist,
I don't think they're pimping their daughter out. I don't blame them for introducing their daughter through a publicationm and ending the world's fervor to see a new picture of baby Jolie-Pitt, in a controlled setting. I think it's safer for them to do so, because then they're not going to have paparazzi chasing them down, or camped out trying to get that first graining shot. They also have to think of the safety of their other children.
Posted by: Mel | June 11, 2006 at 08:15 PM
The eye shadow missing represents her dual personality (she is also gemini) one face for truth another one for lies. Just like her humanitarian and moral values contradiction.
Posted by: Mia | June 12, 2006 at 09:43 AM
Hey 14, how about a new pic of "I'm know I'm a good mom" Spears? ;D
Posted by: Zoey | June 12, 2006 at 10:05 AM
I love that the pictures are posted ALL over the internet for FREE
its a big fuck you tabloids and celebs. you won't be getting my money
Posted by: s | June 12, 2006 at 01:06 PM
I'm already bored with that picture. Isnt there someone truly ABSURD to paint? Like, oh, say, Villy and Mary-kay? I think that is a rich area.
I bet you could paint them so amazingly! She is super-pretty-he is interesting, and there is so much more to their story...they deserve it more. we are a bit too wall-papered with the Brangies, baby or no.
XO

Andrea,
I'm bored of this picture too! Seriously...ugh!
Nuclear Sister,
I'm not REALLY going to buy 3 copies of People, I was just saying that to get my point across. I can see the pics free on the web! Yippee!
Everyone,
Sorry for not being able to post all my new paintings....I have to wait for a certain magazine to roll off the press until I can post what I've been working on. That's why things have been a little show on Gallery of the Absurd.
Bob the Second,
So sue me.
Thanks for your comments everyone...

Wow...this is,well, you know...NICE. Really. If you cut the customarily-sharp-witted headline out, you'd still have a verite-loverly portrait. Maybe even better than either of these two parents deserve.
Posted by: Viper Tetsu | June 13, 2006 at 11:41 PM
The picture makes the baby look so cute, but what if they have the baby positioned in such a way that her ears are pressed underneath her head. She could look just like your previous painting of her and the holy couple. Makes you think, huh?

I am awestruck by the artistic talent. I don't even care what the subject matter is. The creativity and color, WOW. You're a tremendous artist. I'm glad I took a look.
